2nd&4th graders have been hatching chicks. STEM lab, we conducted a C.E.R. on which came first -the chicken or the egg. Claim: egg was 1st. Evidence: amniotic eggs (reptilian) were around long before chickens. Reasoning: Ancestors of chickens laid eggs before there were chickens.

In STEM Lab, 5th grade made magnetic slime as part of their magnetism/electricity unit and their physical/chemical changes unit. They tested the slime and watched it swallow magnets, then answered if making slime is a chemical or physical change. Loads of gooey learning!

Our 5th grade students participated in King Arthur Baking Companyโ€™s "Bake for Good." Our students practiced math and the science of making bread from scratch. They will bake the bread recipe at home (one to keep and one to share with someone in need or as an act of kindness)

In some of the STEM Computer Lab classes on 8/06, the kiddos watched a GOAT. Thatโ€™s right, they watched Simone Bilesโ€™ Gold Medal All Around Competition at the Paris Olympics. In their STEM journals, they had to share what they saw that was STEMmy.

Learning a simple CER (claim-evidence-reasoning) in the STEM Computer Lab using Ivory soap & microwave - claims were made, evidence was seen, reasoning ignited. Kiddos loved seeing the soap puff up, then looking inside the soap at all the spaces where the air bubbles had been.
