Dr Helen Fry | WWII Historian I’m sure he would want to be called a ‘hero’ but my Gt Uncle Edward ‘Jack’ Woodhead was in our eyes. Awarded the DSM as Coxswain of HMS Gulzar he rescued under gunfire the last British troops from Calais in 1940. Days later rescuing 500 from Dunkirk.

#Newitem arriving soon for the#museum. Found on the site of the former #Luftwaffe #fighter #base of #Audembert. This is a bar to 'tie down' the wings of an #Me109whilst parked up. This was don to ensure the #aircraft remained grounded in the event of strong winds.

Found these on a charity stall at our local Christmas market. Would have been rude not to bring them home! Jigsaw pieces purely for scale, in lieu of a London Bus.

An #Interesting #propaganda #poster from 1940. It demonstrates, and reinforces the wider narrative of the time, how #Alsace was viewed by the Germans.
