Met with CPNI Chief Exec Gerard Greene & pharmacist Paul Cooper today. Community pharmacy is in crisis & needs urgent support to stabilise the service. Chronic underfunding impacting patients & staff - proper solutions must be found soon to protect this vital service.

Something has to get through to the Department, that the current model towards community pharmacy is NOT working. This is a crisis, and if the Minister doesn’t get a handle on it, then I fear we will see another system facing collapse. CPNI

Very concerning meeting of the All Party Group on community pharmacy this afternoon. Representatives from CPNI warned that shortfalls in funding have resulted in patients not being able to get medications. This is a real threat to the supply of medications across NI.

💊Community Pharmacy is an essential part of Primary Care, yet stands on a knife edge. It needs urgent support from the Health Minister. Less cuts to funding, and less clawback of money would be a welcome start! CPNI | @sdlplive | #CommunityPharmacy

Thank you to David Brooks MLA for visiting David and the team at Dundela Pharmacy today to discuss current pressures facing the community network and the opportunities that exist for community pharmacy to contribute to healthcare reform, if adequately resourced.

Timely meet w/ CPNI & a South Belfast rep today on funding gaps driving community pharmacies out of business. This part of the health ecosystem WORKS - Community Pharmacies keep people out of GPs & A&Es,+ often keep high streets alive too, but need sustainable funding

Community pharmacists Joe McAleer and Siobhan McNulty talk to Julian Fowler about the funding pressures in community pharmacy which means they are often ‘dispensing medicines at a loss’ and essentially pharmacies are ‘propping up the health service.’ BBC Newsline
