Service learning in action! These undergrads (and grad students) have been collaborating with the great teachers in Carteret County Public School System and finding ways to work WITH teachers and students to explore our environment! Duke Environment Duke Marine Lab

Congrats Jenna Hartley so glad we have been able to work with you!!

Community and kids. We have cried all week after losing four kids in our community. Today I cried tears of hope because of the kids Carteret County Public School System that organized a show of solidarity and support by wearing camo in hour of the students we lost. This is community.

So excited to have Rachel Noble here Duke Marine Lab for our water quality teacher training with awesome teachers from across NC!! Thanks Dr. Noble!

We spent the day with grade five from Bogue Sound elementary school Carteret County Public School System. Those awesome kids cleaned our local shorelines and collected data for Clean Swell!! They collected 1025 items and took trash with them to make community art!

These amazing kids from Atlantic Elementary Carteret County Public School System spent the day with DUML Community Sci being citizen scientists! They collected and quantified marine debris, and made a difference in our community!

Calling all Duke undergrads! Join DUML Community Sci for a summer of service @dukemarinelab! Support local conservation and community organizations on the coast and make a difference!
