At the first whistle of the day 62% of our matches were led by females. Growing up rarely did Anna see or work with female officials. So proud of the culture being built and that these young athletes can see women coaching and officiating. #SheCanRef

I assigned the CRSA Tourney. Full game coverage, every slot filled. But a real joy was working with Anna Tuuri and seeing Davin return to the pitch again. A. could have made good money, instead she gave back as a mentor.

Championship game. Female athletes. Female coaches. Female referee crew. Even an NWSL ball. Two other division finals (girls) are also being officiated by full female crews at this moment.

Third consecutive Iowa Girls State soccer tournament selection. Last match of the day went 100min before KFTPM to decide it. Great to see so many soccer friends out here year after year.

Glad I was able to join Anna and watch her men's semi-pro last night as she continues to grow and push herself as an official.

Love watching Anna on the pitch. Already her third Iowa HS 2A Championship, adding to a single 3A.

Anna's off to her last semester of college, graduating in Dec w/ a Special Ed K-12 license. Student teaching first at the high school, then elementary in a little village up the road to end year. She was hired as an asst boys high school coach and will be AR on college matches.

I like this approach for youth matches. Will be interesting to see if US Soccer PDI incorporates something similar down the road. I know I've had some rec leagues that allow for the 'kick-in' but the 'dribble in' really has some great advantage for developing youth.

Alright, who else spotted the wood composite fill in the Tampa Bay Sun FC v. Dallas Trinity FC match? I can't be the only nerd to spot it... Let's normalize safer and more sustainable playing environments.

Spent the day at the local pitch for a youth jamboree style league event. Two cool moments: 1. The referee who told me how excited the 9U girls were "We have a girl ref!!!!" 2. The Iowa Soccer Club player, in match, teaching and reminding his opponent of the offside rule.

Love watching Anna Tuuri officiate college matches. About six different movements here to get that perfect angle. Running to the corner on every goal line decision. She and the center are dialed in with matched signals and good eye contact.
