For those of you that have enjoyed Phil Factor on Simple Talk, he passed away recently. RIP Andrew Clarke - red-gate.com/simple-talk/fe…

Total gut punch. Only talked to him by voice a few times, years ago at a Friends of Redgate dinner. (He let me in on his secret :)). Worked with him so many times, including 12 posts on Simple Talk. Fun every time. Definitely is missed.

It’s TSQL Tuesday, so you know where your post it? I am eventually going to get alerted in enough places (including my Feedly feeds!) and why I won’t regularly face the “should I write this today or just skip it” question every month. :) drsql.link/2025/09/09/t-s…

This is a GREAT example of how to write an exploratory blog. Examples, explanations, and a great point. Anyone can do it, and it is fun taking a concept you know, and fleshing it out more and more until you also learn new stuff.

The penultimate blog (at least of the primary, planned blogs) in my RegEx in SQL Server 2025 series is up now. I was going to roll this one in with the INSTR and COUNT, but it was too interesting! drsql.link/2025/09/10/reg…

This seems like something you might see in early April. Not because a 3D Nintendo game doesn’t sound great, it sounds awesome, just that name brings back bad memories of owning one of these for a few weeks years ago. My eyes still haven’t forgotten. 9to5toys.com/2025/09/12/vir…

Real question for #PostgreSQL users. I've seen some instrumentation that pretty much says a few of you don't have a single user database on your clusters. Are you just shoving everything into the postgres database? Or, what?

Just have a month and a half of FOMO left. I can make it. I really can. Mostly because I have 2 trips to Disney World in that time, and a conference, Even still, reading socials until Thanksgiving is FOMO-ness. #IYKYK

Florida! Looking forward to sqlorlando event tomorrow. Doing a run-through of presentation in the back seat while others are listening to a certain new album. Sadly my AirPod Pros (v1) don’t block it nearly enough :).
