I’m an addiction specialist and I drink alcohol. I fully support adding the cancer warning label to retail alcohol products. Reducing harm always starts with understanding and acknowledging risk.

I do think alcohol is in a different category than bacon. The fact that alcohol, a carcinogen, also presents the potential for dependence, harmful ongoing use despite health consequences, and life-threatening withdrawal means a higher standard of informed consent is appropriate
