2.5 beds per 1000 people compared to 7.9 in Germany, 7.2 in Austria, 5.8 in France and 5.6 in Belgium (thanks to Private Eye Magazine) It’s not staff failure causing ambulances to stack up and patients to be treated in corridors and chairs. It’s a failure of planning and management.

Very excited that my podcast for the Royal College of Physicians with the brilliant Professor Susan Michie is being released on Friday. An explainer on behavioural change and how much it can impact the world of healthcare!! Wonderful insights from a true expert. Listen wherever you get your podcasts

Great to see NHS England are going to lead a review on postgraduate training for resident doctors. Long overdue and hopefully it can identify and deliver some much needed change.

Very rare that people who truly deserve something get it. But that is the case with Mumtaz Patel. The Royal College of Physicians may have had some tough times. But there is no one, and I mean no one, who could do a better job of leading this great institution to where it needs to be.
