Although this is not BFR per se, we are interested in whether the effects are due to pressure or the reduction in blood flow from the pressure. We found reduced pain but no evidence for a benefit with resistance exercise performance #OleMissMuscle journals.lww.com/nsca-jscr/abst…

It appears that Michael Keegan, husband of Tory Education Minister Gillian Keegan, was the UK Chief Executive & Chair of Fujitsu, the firm behind the Horizon computer system during #PostOfficeScandal. I wonder why the Tories have failed to press for #justiceforsubpostmasters?

Why does pain often last LONG after healing should be done? Why do 20-year-old ankle sprains still throb & twinge? We may finally know! Willemen et al.: “mitochondrial and metabolic disturbances in sensory neurons.” cell.com/cell/fulltext/… Clear as mud? Let’s translate that…

🔷 So pleased our new meta-analysis on physical characteristics and CHS has now been accepted for publication in Sports Medicine. 🔷 A lot of help given on a mammoth piece of work, which we (at MDX) are super grateful for. 🔷 Link to full text on RG: researchgate.net/publication/37….

Daily blood flow restriction does not preserve muscle mass and strength during 2 weeks of bed rest via Cas Fuchs physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/JP… You need the contraction to preserve muscle!

Daily blood flow restriction does not preserve muscle mass/strength during 2 weeks of bed rest within-subject design but more and more findings seem to suggest that BFR by itself may not be enough (need those low force contractions) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38411283/

Interesting. Traditional heavier load RT and low-load BFR have differential effects on hamstrings hypertrophy at a group level (a lot of inter-individual variance). Suggests combining methods might help to optimize hamstrings development...? onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Combined action observation and mental imagery versus NMES on 1 week of immobilization Looked at a lot of really interesting mechanisms A lot of uncertainty around the effect but i found the idea (particularly the action observation) quite fascinating physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…
