But okay one of my fave things about med school was seeing my friends turn into internists and radiologists and psychiatrists and anesthesiologists because they were ecstatic to do a job that I did not want and vice versa, and it’s like we all won our own personal lottery.

Overnight shifts? Sure, but sparingly. 24 hour shifts? Absolutely not, at least as clerkship students. The con to pro ratio approaches infinity on this one.

The best way to celebrate #ThankAResidentDay would be to increase residency spots, pay us better, and make sweeping institutional changes that are founded in anti-racism, equity, and justice.
