I think we need to create a required course for all university students at every institution called - The Academic Institution: How this place works (and the curriculum informs students about how a university functions, who has power, how curriculum is set, etc.)

Taking a break from Twitter for a week or so, in a bid to regain some perspective and get something important (read: overdue) done. À bientôt!

When @dcvanderlinden and I finished this Special Issue we thought it would also be interesting to bring together previous articles from SSFH in an open-access Virtual Issue that reflects on the development of the field...

Help me #Earlymodern #twitterstorians! I'm trying to trace a journey made by ship in 1610 from Cornwall to 'a place called Carowaye in the Straits' and 'from thence into Turkye to a place called Carubinn'. Can anyone help me locate these places?

Really enjoyed the UCEMS annual lecture by Linda Briggs! Her talk ‘Parading Peace: Ceremonial Entries in the French Wars of Religion (1564-1566)’ gave lots of food for thought about public debate, royal power, and the methods used to negotiate lasting peace after civil war.

Back from a wonderful week in Utrecht, where I gave the UCEMS annual lecture and a graduate workshop (among other research activities). Cannot thank colleagues and students enough for their warm welcome and engagement with my work - especially @KLaveant who made it all happen.

Some astonishing details from Crivelli's Camerino triptych to brighten this dreary day. The surviving panels at the Brera are all that remain of a triptych from the city of Camerino in the Marche, a depiction of which may be seen in the hands of its patron saint Venantius.

A heart bookmark found inside a collection of Dutch pamphlets from the 1680s. Amazing that something so delicate managed to survive! #rarebooks #bookmarks
