I salute the Namibian workers on Workers Day. With their sweat, energy, most of the times under difficult conditions and underpaid, the workers build our mines, infrastructures, fishing and other industries. They played a pivotal role in the liberation struggle. A lutta continua!

Thanks and salute to Ireland, Norway and Spain for recognizing the rights of the Palestinian people to statehood. You were there when Namibians were fighting for their right to independence and nationhood and at a critical time you stood up for the Palestinian State.

Congratulations to President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa. The South African people have spoken through election. What they need now is a leadership that delivers on economic matters, fighting of crime and service delivery. All of the best as you lead South Africa to prosperity.

I would like to commend my friend Sven and his team for terminating the Pick & Pay franchise agreement. The time has come for Namibia to have its home grown retail companies. O & L will now join Woermann Brock in this venture. Well done Sven and I wish you and team only the best.

It was a great moment to share some experience and insight with some of our SOEs’ CEOs on Board/CEO relationship. Once we entrench good corporate governance in our country’s governance structures, we will make Namibia more efficient, more ethical and more productive.

As we commerce with our first election tomorrow at our Embassies as well as Special voting in the country, I wish our country a free, peaceful, transparent, credible and well organized electoral process. Citizens, use your democratic right to vote.

When are we moving to digital voting and counting of votes. If one can do banking transactions in a secure and protected manner online, why voting cannot be secure, safe, private and protected online? Namibia - move with times.

It was nice to read that Cabinet has approved the Local Content Policy (LCP) for Oil and Gas. More LCPs should also be adopted for other economic sectors. May be the Retail Sector should be the next one. The Ministry of Trade should drive that.

Go well my friend, you were a great man who did a lot for Namibia especially in the mining sector, environment, art and education. Till we meet again!

Why should a refinery be good for France but not for Namibia, especially when Namibia will produce its own oil? There are refineries in Singapore which has no an iota of oil. Qatar has a refinery and I am sure it is because it has oil.

It was an honor to be invited to officiate at a tree planting function at the office of the Oshikango constituency at Edundja village as a tribute to the legacy of our Founding President, Dr Nujoms on the occasion of his birth day. Let the spirit of Nujoma continue to inspire us!

In my view, the South African delegation and especially President Ramaphosa, represented and presented the case of their country well in the Oval Office. The issue is poverty and unemployment which can only be addressed by investment and economic growth. Well done Cyril.

Congratulations to minister, teachers, parents and learners for the Class of 2025. Although we made a slight improvement to a pass rate of over 40%, a lot need to be done. For the next 4 years, our national target for pass rate should be 90%. We cannot be a nation of dropouts.
