July 1st- it’s a new year for GME programs across the U.S. As UC Irvine Hem/Onc fellowship Program Director, it’s a tradition to host a welcome party at our house 7/1. This year featured not only Hem/Onc fellows but also Rad Onc residents along w/faculty, friends and family.

At UC Irvine’s Hem/Onc fellowship program, the future is female! This week we welcomed the class of 2026 to our program who (after 1-week orientation) are ready to hit the ground running. Pic taken outside the Anatomy Lab where we completed our bone marrow bx simulation course.

An important PSA last night on CBS/LA KCAL news for men’s health month: colorectal cancer is now the leading cancer cause of death among men under age 50. And yet, the vast majority of cases can be prevented or detected early through screening. Screening for most begins at age 45
