When ACL tears occur, we don’t blame the ACL for being weak or underprepared.

We’ve learned to look at distal joint mobility and stability, movement mechanics & neurological readiness as the real issues.

With UCL tears, we often overlook these same qualities. Why is that?

Players ask, 'should I consider Indy ball'? Ask Tyler Jay. Last year was with Joliet Slammers in the Frontier League , dealt, got signed, yesterday promoted to the major league with the New York Mets. Want to get signed, PLAY. No one gets signed off the couch.

Mike is correct; it’s a pretty simple equation of work tolerance.

I wish we would change the terminology from overused to underprepared.

When the nervous and muscular systems are prepared, overuse is not an issue.

There is no Tommy John surge this spring -- it's just always this bad since ~2014. Today marks the 100th day of the year, a period during when most elbow injuries occur. We looked at the first 100 days of each year re: TJS procedures for MLB and all pro pitchers since Tommy John…

We’re seeing more athletes underprepared for the velocity and volumes of work in sports vs overuse.

A slight shift in terminology, but huge implications to the self inflicted nature of many injuries we see.

Ligament tears signal breakdowns elsewhere:
-Insufficient muscle/fascial strength
-Lacking muscle size
-Distal instability
-Poor neurological efficiency
-Inefficient movement patterns

When the CNS and muscular system are conditioned at adequate levels, we don’t see injury.

We suck at predicting talent development.

We're not good at it. Accept that.

Now, if that's the case, why wouldn't we want to keep more people in the pipeline to see how they develop?

Too often, especially in youth sports, we talent ID too quickly.

We're fooling ourselves.

Rob recently made headlines as he was touching 100+ MPH as a 42 year old.

He came to Advanced Therapy & Performance with a confirmed partial right ACL tear and was trying to figure out the best way to approach the issue.

During the initial evalauation of the knee, there was limited knee…

Optimize Your Pronator Flexor Mass
(And protect your UCL)
1- Clear cervical rotation
2- Own your chin-up, deadlift, reverse lunge ( Metrics)
3- Get regular deep tissue and fascial work done to the forearm, shoulder, and neck.

If you want to significantly improve your odds of playing a sport at the professional level, your habits must reflect that goal.

Here are 4 ways to prepare like a pro and separate yourself from your peers:

If your goal is to run, swing, or throw as a career, you damn well better prioritize lunging over squatting in your program.
