One of my personal favorite ways to compare IL placements across seasons is looking at daily 'on the IL' numbers. How many players are on the IL for a given day of the season? 2023 (yellow) and 2024 (purple) are incredibly similar. This is through yesterday.

Today at Baseball Prospectus: There were more MLB injuries in 2023 than 2022, but, as Derek Rhoads and I pointed out, it was solely because of increased injuries in spring training. How hazardous was spring training 2024? baseballprospectus.com/news/article/8…

Not to kick Reds Fans while they are down but 2024 is looking alarmingly like 2022 and 2023 regarding injuries.

No team has had more games missed to the IL than the Reds during the last two seasons. Hopefully, these early-season injuries aren't a sign of more things to come.

Soooooo much FOMO, couldn't make it this year but sounds like a fantastic time as usual.

* pitchers who pitched in MLB or spent entire season on MLB IL, not including position players pitching

I’m glad more studies on this are coming out. Clinically, it’s seemed like a no-brainer when it applies.

The studies on the hybrid technique, when they come out, will be even better.
