Since we're talking about funding of absurd research by NIH and other federal agencies, the funded scientists: - watching flies fuck - giving rats massages - spending years digging into why jellyfish glow - tracking penguin poop from space - using horseshoe crab blood

I am recruiting for postdoctoral and technician positions at UCSD. If anyone with relevant skills/interests has lost funding due to the anti-DEI jihad or the NIH purge, I’m open to discussion of ways we can try to help out.

Lucky to be in DC with ASPET but don’t forget, you can advocate for science just as effectively right where you are! Your voice is so important, let it be heard.

In case science survives the NIH bloodbath, you might want to check out how Rep Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY-11) is trying to ban ALL federal funding for research with animal models. nabr.org/view_file/5817… Urge your representatives to reject the SPARE act: speak4.app/lp/xe015ndd/

Before illicit fentanyl took over, buprenorphine doses rarely exceeded 16 to 24mg. Higher buprenorphine doses are showing promise due to fentanyl’s intense strength: Tx retention boosted at 32mg, 40mg.

So thrilled to have worked with Maryland Opioid Research (MOR) colleagues to publish this comprehensive paper outlining why #fentanyl is different than other opioids and how it can be treated. Thank you Suky Martinez for your leadership! buff.ly/4imnpHF

I would love for emails from eRA commons to have anything to do with whether my grant is being funded rather than notices of court orders.

Our new *short report* was just published & shows that a monoclonal antibody previously shown to attenuate the effects of fentanyl had cross-reactivity for carfentanil in 2 NHPs. This was especially interesting because the mAb had little relative affinity for carfent in vitro.
