Potential Los Angeles Dodgers rotation in 2025: Shohei Ohtani Blake Snell Yoshinobu Yamamoto Tyler Glasnow Roki Sasaki In a sport with fewer and fewer frontline starting pitchers, the Dodgers have five with No. 1-type stuff and performance. An absolutely absurd array of talent.

When Tanner Scott’s deal is made official, the Dodgers’ luxury-tax payroll for 2025 will exceed $375 million. That is about $70 million more than the next-highest team, Philadelphia. The Yankees are the only other team with a CBT payroll projected to be over $300 million.

The Kansas City Royals are calling up slugger Jac Caglianone, one of the top prospects in baseball, sources tell ESPN. Caglianone, 22, is hitting .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 50 games between AA and AAA.

The San Francisco Giants are acquiring All-Star slugger Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox, sources confirm to ESPN. An out-of-nowhere blockbuster deal. Boston is getting RHP Jordan Hicks and more. First on the news was Robert Murray.

Scott White (@cbsscottwhite) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I think the gist of the trade is that the Red Sox regretted signing Rafael Devers to a massive contract now that he's not able to play third base (and unwilling to play first base). This deal gives them a do-over -- and with a much better return than a compensation pick.

Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow on succeeding without Rafael Devers in 2025: “I do think there’s a real chance that at the end of the season, we’re looking back and we’ve won more games than we otherwise would’ve.”

Update: It is the fourth inning. Shohei Ohtani has thrown four shutout innings, allowed one hit, struck out six and hit a pair of home runs. The first went 446 feet. The most recent, to give the Dodgers a 4-0 lead, went 469 feet and nearly left the stadium. The best. Period.

Shohei Ohtani homered. Again. Dead center off Trevor Megill. He has three home runs tonight. He threw 6.1 shutout innings and struck out 10. This is one of the greatest individual performances in posteason history.
