Congrats Rough Trade! The retailer is eyeing more high street stores, with its vinyl sales up 150% over 5 years 💪 Encouraging to see diverse young communities driving growth, with MD Lawrence Montgomery citing a more even gender split for 18-24 year-old buyers, compared to 55+

Delighted to welcome incoming ERA Chair, Linda Walker. It’s an important time for entertainment retail, as music streaming revenues approach a peak in mature markets & physical sales thrive. Linda’s experience, from indie retailer to major label, makes her the perfect choice.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) mid-years offer a promising outlook for physical music in the US, with vinyl revenues up by 17% in H1 2024 vs H1 2023 and CDs sales up 3.3%. Too early to tell whether this means a comeback for shiny discs across the pond, but great to see nevertheless 💪

Music fans’ love affair with physical formats endures as ERA reports overall revenues were up 6.2% YOY in '24. Vinyl continues to be the main driver, with retail revenues up 10.5%, growing faster than streaming. All would not be possible without the hard work of UK retailers!
