Emily McDonald This will put me in the minority but I think most cases of categorical exclusions for pregnancy in clinical trials are unethical, because they’re not based in reasonable evidence/expectation that the risk:benefit calculus of randomization is less favorable for a pregnant woman.
Emily McDonald Pregnancy would not alter my recommendation about Rifampin. Shared decision making would be best approach (as always) If it were TB, you would insist on the Rifampin. How much you recommend any drug to a pregnant person depends on the benefit. Would NOT exclude from trials.
