Happy to have the opportunity to help reinforce the importance of bystander CPR, public access AEDs, and a well-trained EMS response to maximize survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%…

This Access to AEDs Bill will make school sports and other activities safer for victims of cardiac arrest. Many thanks to 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐧 and Murphy Jensen for sharing their stories and advocating for this legislation sponsored by Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick .

It's always a pleasure when this esteemed group allows me to join them. And it's an honor to advocate for EMS physicians, EMS systems, and our patients. NAEMSP

.Douglas Kupas, MD, FAEMS, FACEP & @Talisman6912 are both discussing the benefits or #EMS antibiotics for wounds & open fractures. This is another time-sensitive illness that we should own. ACS 2015 recommendation was to start w/in 60min of hospital arrival. But why not before? #EaglesGather23

If arrival at the ER door is "Time 0" & antibiotics within 60 min has mortality and morbidity benefits, than giving them prehospital ("sub-zero") can help even more. Cefazolin is cheap and easy to carry, as well as effective for most infections and wounds. #EaglesGather23

This is practice changing for those performing intubation. Auscultation of lung sounds and other clinical signs do not reliably exclude esophageal intubation. Do not use them for this purpose. Waveform capnography exhibiting sustained exhaled EtCO2 is required.

As we look to the future of #EMS we know that 75% of fire dept volume is EMS calls, but 75% of EMS calls are not done by fire services. We need to create dialogue about where we live at the Federal level without attacking each other. All EMS service models need a voice!

Thanks to marion renault for helping to educate the public and spread the word about the dangers of unnecessary lights and siren use in EMS. L&S is like any other medical intervention- administer only if the time saved will help the patient, otherwise it may be harmful. NAEMSP

Another super #EMS research poster at EMS World examining the termination of resuscitation of children. Important, but requires caring and sensitivity to help family heal. Will Cebulskie, Remle P. Crowe, PhD, Danielle DeCesare, Jeffrey Rollman, Lynne Singleton, Casey Smith, Lynn White

Having spent my career researching and teaching about this, these rates of failire to use seatbelts by EMS clinicians in thr patient compartment and failure to properly restrain patients with shoulder straps are sad. Be safe out there! NAEMSP Nat'l Assoc of EMTs National Association of State EMS Officials American Ambulance Association

Spot on. The American culture has left us with ambulances of dark colors, some with wildlife and other photos, ambulances that look like health system billboards, and cute pediatric designs that look like kindergarten projects. Uniqueness over safety. The U.K. has it right.

To my EMS friends - It is exciting that our first NAEMSP president, Dr. Ron Stewart, was awarded the Companion of the Order of Canada. In the history of Canada, only about 500 people have ever had this honor. An amazing honor for an EMS physician!
