Bad news, good news for all manuscript scholars. That wonderful resource for provenance research, MLGB3, is still down but Bodleian Libraries has updated the text. There is now a statement of 'firm intention to rebuild the resource' and to develop MLGB4. Thank you, @richove

This essay was a previous MEDIUM ÆVUM Essay Prize winner - proof that the winner receives not just glory but may also see their work in print! That is, if you apply: deadline each year is the start of December, so that means this year it is... TOMORROW!

Given how hate-filled towards the humanities and to newly minted doctors (congratulations, Dr Ally Louks) Twatter is being at the moment, let's do one thing before we close down our accounts and finally move elsewhere. Let's have a celebration of Research that Riles the Haters.

I can start us off on Research that Riles: I was an editor of this book just out hup.harvard.edu/books/97806742… My part was to edit a short work by a little-known humanist on the tyranny of Julius Caesar. Who needs telling that such a power-hungry, predatory rule-breaker was a wrong'un?

As I said over in A Better Place, this is an exciting time for Lost Manuscripts - upgraded and ready for some new adventures in 2025...

A reminder for those of you have still not upgraded to another site: Just under a fortnight to apply for this funded PhD position working within @memsunikent and with @westminsterabbey on #fragments Lost Manuscripts If you have any questions, do drop me a line.

Reading for a wet Sunday, inspired by British Library's Medieval Women exhibition: bonaelitterae.wordpress.com/2025/02/09/med…

Break my ban on posting here (join Bluesky for timely updates) in order that Dr. Peter Stiffell can enjoy this from Bookscapes Workshops visit to the Thomas Plume Library in Maldon.
