Sport Psychs repeat after me: 1. CBT is not monolithic. 2. There are many CBTs. 3. Ellis' REBT is a (the first) CBT. Beck's CT is also a (the second) CBT. 4. Psychological Skills Training (PST) is derived from CBTs. Now reference Ellis and Beck in your next paper about PST.

Ironic that well-intentioned support from friends, loved ones (eg financial aid from parents), sport orgs, coaches etc. can become a source of pressure and stress for performers, a source of guilt if they 'fail to deliver'. Safe, open discussions about this irony can help.

When it comes to dealing with failure and motivation, taking the compassionate-carrot over the sadistic-stick is usually more sustainable…

⭐️On Wednesday the 15th March we are hosting the Scottish Sport & Exercise Psychology Network meeting The University of Edinburgh. Two great sessions lined up: 1. In conversation with Dr. Ciara Reidy, discussing how we can expand the role of SEP through knowledge transfer partnerships.

Great to see this out! The relationship between psychological safety and mental health has been poorly defined thus far. Had a lot of fun thinking about how this may occur, with a team of amazing co-authors. Our latest, open access in Sports Medicine doi.org/10.1007/s40279…
