I took 10 mins to walk around the house of commons last night - and what struck me most was how the decisions made in these exquisite spaces has shaped my and others lives, how powerless that felt, and how distant this place is from the #workingclass.

15 years ago, I gained a #phd. Many years after being told to leave school as "you're not going to pass anything". A #workingclass kid fae the tenements.

My father was raised in care (Quarriers) until working age. I finally had a chance to look at what little notes there are of his 14 years there. Vivid insights into family life, poverty and the (lack of) standards of housing in a small industrial town, which led to the referral.

I get frustated (dare I fall in to the trap of being angry and #workingclass) by such articles. written by those 'chosen' to have the knowledge of control whilst the masses are socialisd into the context specific. I ask, why not educate the working-class? theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
