Anti-cancer fluoropyrimidine drugs have antibacterial effects on the gut microbiome, and these drugs can be metabolized by gut bacteria via conserved pathways also found in mammalian hosts, according to a Nature Microbiology paper. go.nature.com/3UxiuZb
