Public satisfaction with the NHS is at a record low - so what’s it like working in it currently? As a doctor with nearly 17 years experience working in the NHS (12 of those as a GP) I’ve never known it to be so good 😊 If by “good” I mean an absolute bin-fire of course ☹️ 🧵

This is appalling NHS England. I would likely not be working now if it weren’t for the wonderful team NHS Practitioner Health. Devastated that my secondary care colleagues won’t have their incredible support. This is cruel and shows how little you care about your workforce.

Thankyou NHS England We won’t pay you what you deserve We won’t provide you with the facilities tools and equipment to do your work We won’t listen to your concerns and suggestions And now we won’t support you when you burnout . 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

If ever we needed further proof the claps meant nothing to the government, by closing the NHS Practitioner Health service they’re basically saying they don’t care if we kill ourselves. Also very poor economics given the cost of replacing staff lost to MH long term sick leave vs savings.

I have no words for this. I’ve signposted many a colleague here, and I believe they’ve saved many lives. Suicides in doctors are a sadly all too common tragedy, and practitioner health was one of the very few services that could actually offer appropriate and timely support.

Objective metrics desperately needed for safe services in a new substantive GP contract: 1. A recommended max number of registered patients : GPs ratio, assuming an 11 hr working day (08:00-19:00) rather than 55 hr working week Or minimum numbers of GPs per unit of population.

Fifteen years. Five prime ministers, seven chancellors, eight foreign secretaries, twelve culture secretaries and sixteen housing ministers. A thread, for #RantyTuesday.

Dismayed to discover that Gigaclear have no Sunday emergency response service. So this company which has monopolised Internet provision throughout our village expects customers to simply put up with outages on a weekend. This is disgraceful

It is extraordinary that the USA gets treated to a dismantling of the Tory party orders of magnitude better than the tame efforts anyone dares attempt here. (And no, it's not the swearing that makes the difference - it's the accuracy of the attacks.)

Retired surgeon with no knowledge or experience about working in primary care. Moaning for pay and clicks. Jog on mate. 🥱

Hi ⁦Clare Hambling⁩ I currently have no commissioned service above Tier 2 to refer obese patients in Suffolk - haven’t for nearly a year. Where will I send the hundreds of patients who will contact me about your advert today and overwhelm me? bbc.com/news/articles/…

I can explain the divide. Since Doctors trained & became Consultants or GPs in the 20th century - the “deal” has progressively got worse. • Medical students stopped getting maintenance grants. • Then they had to pay tuition fees - which have risen sharply over 20 years. •

Have been using this rule for my entire career ⁦Wes Streeting⁩. Are you going to compel secondary care to see those I send to them under this rule rather than ‘rejecting’ my referral when I do? bbc.com/news/articles/…
