Ferruginous Duck, Toft Bay Draycote Water. Also 6+ Common Sandpiper, 6 Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, c15 Yellow & 3 Grey Wagtail, 20 Goosander, 4 Yellow-legged Gull, c40 Little Egret & Shoveler (ringed but indecipherable). Several young Moorhen now emerging. Draycotebirding


Minimal change Draycote Water: Ferruginous Duck, Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Yellow and 2 Grey Wagtail, Common Tern, 5 Goosander, 6+ Common Sandpiper, Kingfisher, at least 56 Little Egret and many dozen Swift through early. Draycotebirding


Today Draycote Water: Ferruginous Duck, 4 Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Common Sandpiper, Common Tern, 18+ Goosander, c50 Little Egret, Grey Wagtail, Sparrowhawk & a "Cackling" type Canada Goose. Increasing numbers of Black-headed Gull & also a couple of Great Black-backed Gull.


Ferruginous Duck again by the hide Draycote Water. Also 2 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Yellow & 2 Grey Wagtail, 3 Yellow-legged Gull, c35 Little Egret, 13 Goosander, Kingfisher & passage of Swifts. Muntjac in adjacent field. Separate post re geese. Draycotebirding

Failed to locate the Ferruginous Duck Draycote Water but did find my first Dunlin of the year at the site. Also 2 Little Ringed Plover, 4 Common Sandpiper, 5+ Yellow and 4 Grey Wagtail, Yellow-legged Gull, c35 Little Egret, c20 Goosander and Kingfisher. Draycotebirding


A Red-crested Pochard was my first of the year (distant photo for record purposes) Draycote Water. Also 2 Little Ringed Plover, Dunlin, 25+ Goosander, 12+ Yellow Wagtail (many juveniles), 2 Yellow-legged Gull and c35 Little Egret. Draycotebirding


At least 30 Yellow Wagtail Draycote Water this morning. Also Little Ringed Plover, 2 Common Sandpiper, Dunlin, 11 Goosander, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, c20 Little Egret and 2 Grey Wagtail. Dozens of Pied Wagtail and Chiffchaff suggesting very successful breeding. Draycotebirding



An amble along the south shore Draycote Water before retreating from the heat was rewarded with my first Ruff of the year. Also 20+ Yellow and a Grey Wagtail, Common Tern, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, 34+ Little Egret, 3 Goosander, Shoveler, 3 Teal and c2000 Gulls. Draycotebirding


More viewing from along the south shore Draycote Water before the temperature soared: a Minimum of 35 Yellow Wagtail, Oystercatcher, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, 36+ Little Egret, 7 Goosander and a Kingfisher. Draycotebirding


Gulls galore Draycote Water with in excess of 2000 mainly Black-headed (but no Med!) in 4 flocks: c20 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Common Tern, 35+ Little Egret, 11 Goosander, Raven, Shoveler and 3 Yellow-legged Gull. Draycotebirding


Change in weather not mirrored by a change in birdlife Draycote Water: 25+ Yellow Wagtail, 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, 47 Little Egret, 8 Goosander. Family party of Green Woodpecker again in the Country Park and an Oak Bush-cricket in the bird hide. Draycotebirding


Early visit Draycote Water and rewarded with a minimum of 45 Yellow Wagtail (possibly 65 present) but numbers depleted when retracing my steps. Also Grey Wagtail, 9 Goosander, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, minimum 49 Little Egret, Teal count growing slowly. Draycotebirding



An unexceptional morning Draycote Water: Yellow Wagtail, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Common Sandpiper, Oystercatcher, 6 Goosander, c35 Little Egret, Raven, Kingfisher, Shoveler and a couple of Swift. The Cormorants appear to be having more success than the anglers. Draycotebirding


A little bit of shoreline and a more productive morning Draycote Water: Ruff, Greenshank, Ringed Plover, 4 Common Sandpiper, c15 Yellow and a Grey Wagtail, Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Common Tern, c40 Little Egret, 5 Goosander and c12 Swift. Draycotebirding


A Shag Draycote Water was my first of the year at the site. Also Greenshank, Ruff (a different bird to yesterday), 5 Common Sandpiper, c10 Yellow Wagtail, c30 Little Egret, 22 Goosander and at least a dozen Swift. A Muntjac also put in an appearance. Draycotebirding


A decent morning Draycote Water: Shag, Turnstone, Ruff, 4 Common Sandpiper, 7 Yellow and a Grey Wagtail, 2 Yellow-legged Gull, 21 Goosander, 27+ Little Egret, Shoveler and Kingfisher. A Hummingbird Hawk-moth and Muntjac added to the enjoyment. Draycotebirding
