Having a great time at the EAUC conference. Lots of exciting conversations about sustainability and education and great session involving Alana Wheat 🌱 on partnership in esd! Institute for Sustainable Futures Keele University Green:Keele 🌱 Root & Branch Keele University 🐿️
A motivational start to the Advance HE #TLConf23, thank you to Kris Spelman Miller for sharing our commitment to sustainability Keele University 🐿️ The first day was closed by a timely panel featuring Antonia Law on Education for Sustainability Institute for Sustainable Futures Keele University #HigherEd #GreenKeele
While it doesn’t look like we shifted much, we cleared and surveyed 65kg of litter today… 40kg of which was fishing rope! Such a shame to see these beautiful places so impacted by #litter @DrTStanton @dccmckay Antonia Law #beachclean #skye
Head nets out today, braving the midges at beautiful Dunvegan beach. Fascinating to see completely different litter - lots of glass and cermaics! Followed by some floor-based labwork back at camp #beachclean #litter Antonia Law Dr Melissa Duncan-Schiele @DrTStanton Savannah Worne @dccmckay
Filtering fun and jellyfish today at Neist Point beach, the most westerly place in #Skye. Loving working in these amazingly beautiful landscapes, even if lugging collected litter up the cliffs is hard work! #beachclean #marineconservation Antonia Law @DrTStanton
Before and after using the Marine Conservation Society #OSPAR #beachclean #litter survey method, with a fine tooth comb! Hundreds of pieces of litter in just a 2 m2 quadrat…doesn’t even make a dent on the amount we found at Ullinish today. Thanks to the crofting community for welcoming us 😊#Skye
Today we went back to Camasunary to use our high-resolution Marine Conservation Society #OSPAR method in a 1x1m quadrat . We found 1,061 pieces of #litter, just on the surface! When Antonia Law dug a little deeper, we found layer upon layer underneath - a perplexing scientific and social issue…
Today is Celebrate Scientists Day! I have learnt so much from @dccmckay Antonia Law and @DrTStanton of Institute for Sustainable Futures Keele University @keelegce and Loughborough University over the past few years, and I'm excited about our continuing research into 'natural' fibres at the bottom of Rudyard Lake.
Excited to see 👇documenting the research by the 50YOLS team last summer. Can’t wait to go back for more research this summer with the team by @DrTStanton with @dccmckay Savannah Worne Dr Melissa Duncan-Schiele Dr Catherine Sanders youtu.be/6G4LVAEn1s0?fe…
