1/The Deposit Return Scheme, DRS, is fast approaching introduction by the Scottish government. There is next to no public awareness of how badly this would affect Scottish business, the Scottish and UK economy, and the general public.

“There has been no request for an exemption” says Scotland Office in relation to UKIMA. This is a direct contradiction to a letter I received yesterday from Lorna Slater stating that “the formal process is underway for seeking an exclusion.” These both can’t be true.

Hi Lorna Slater, I’d recommend you watch this video from Michael Bergson (Owner of Buck’s Bar in Glasgow) that clearly explains the multiple issues with DRS from a hospitality perspective.

All this lobbying is absolutely exhausting and I’d quite like to get back to focussing on running my business rather than having to deal with this protracted DRS chaos. I’m not backing down as it’s too important an issue but I’d much rather be doing something else with my time.
