I love this study so much. Actual data showing we should be symptom-driven as a field, and there isn’t a lot to hang your hat on DSM-wise… which many of us knew, but now we can cite someone!

Got to do grand rounds at UIC. Was heartwarming to get such an enthusiastic welcome from the department, to have some of my labmates, mentors and students (and husband!) make the trek to see it, and to get an incredibly kind introduction from Olu Ajilore, MD, PhD - @pshrink.bsky.social. Happy to be in the UIC fam!

#ACNP2024 is both great and bad. It’s great in that I get to meet a lot of wonderful, brilliant people, reconnect with old friends and mentors and generally have a fab time. It’s bad in that I have about 6 new ideas for projects and can’t decide which to do first

The NIH announced it will slash billions of dollars of support to universities and research centers. This is one of the biggest attacks on science we have ever seen. It could dismantle the biomedical research system, shut down clinical trials, and halt development of treatments.

Augmenting TMS response in MDD: We know DLPFC-TMS works, and for non-responders that OFC-TMS adds some 20+% remissions, so what if we combine these two protocols? Large sample shows no advantage. Maybe it is about specificity of TMS? Congrats Amourie Prentice and Nikita van der Vinne

Thrilled to announce that my mentor/bestie/co-lab director Amy Herrold’s merit award, exploring a combined tms/yoga intervention for veterans with chronic pain and opiate use disorder, received its intent to fund notice. So proud!

New finding: 5-day accelerated TMS (no MRI) with major PTSD symptom relief in n>100 Veterans—77% response, 62% remission. Fast, scalable, and effective with scalp-based targeting. A big step for accessible precision PTSD care. #TMS #PTSD VA Research šŸ‘‰ sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
