An impressive yield response to #SE14 in Wheat @ Nyabing WA (yield monitor map). Above black line is loam to gravel loam soils, treated @ 2.5L/ha SE14 in 42L/ha water. Below the line loam soils untreated. #SE14 drew moisture from 1-2cm below seed to activate earlier germination

38.19 minute second quarter and no stoppage for stretcher. Plenty of scoring and a mountain of ridiculous reviews. Please Laura and Andrew it’s time to stop the rot.

The rain didn't stop us today! First, look at our Canola trial for Semester 2, which started off with emergence counts and growth stage recording while planning our fertilizer applications. Looking forward to putting traditional fertilizer practices up against biological nitrogen

Yesterday we set up our trial site ready for data collection. We measured NDVI, chlorophyll content and growth stage with canola showing good growth across all varieties. Unfortunately the drone data didn't work but we’re excited to see how the canola changes in the coming weeks!

Another week another data collection session. Canola is looking good with plenty of bee activity throughout. #canola #ilovecanola #curtinag

Rats have gone nuts!! We have found that rats have decimated two varieties by chewing through the stem with estimated losses of up to 80%. #ilovecanola #ihaterats #curtinag #croppingtrials

The rats were back, causing damage to yet another variety. We are seeing differences in growth and development across all varieties as the season progresses. #ilovecanola #ihaterats #curtinag #canola #trials

All varieties have reached growth stage 70 (BBCH-scale), with rat affected varieties having grown back reasonably well (shown in photos 1 and 2). Snails have been detected in our trial eating leaves across all varieties. #ilovecanola #ihatesnails #curtinag #curtin

Last week we wrapped up our trial by harvesting our canola. Data on NDVI, growth stages, pods per metre and average seeds per pod were collected. Although the canola wasn't fully mature we can use the data collected to create estimates on final plant production. #ilovecanola

Congratulations to Murdoch University researchers Dr Ron Yates (Ron Yates) and Rob Harrison for the outstanding results of their HALO project, which has resulted in the world's first cultivar of the legume pasture species Trigonella balansae. The project, which sees collaboration

Virtual tour of a HALO site, Chapman valley with vixen wheat on various legume stubbles. With a total of 45N applied 2025 we are learning how all the different legumes provide their organic N to the subsequent crop. Leverage what we can learn, to make more of the good stuff 🌾

HALO Steering Committee tour sends a clear signal: harvestable annual legumes are moving from trial plots to real WA paddocks. 🌱 FHS62 & Margurita are regenerating strongly, out-yielding sub clover & proving their place in mixed-farming systems. 🔗 waarc.org.au/updates/halo-s…
