The loss of The Ritz is sad but what’s sadder perhaps is Alamo Drafthouse corporate refusing to acknowledge Drafthouse United for nearly month. I love Drafthouse theaters but I love service industry workers more.

Of the many things #DrafthouseUnited initially petitioned for, we decided to narrow our focus, and asked that the staff of #AlamoDrafthouseSouthLamar be paid a #livingwage, or at least be provided a clear plan of action to that end, by June 30. 1/3

As before, we have received no real response from #AlamoDrafthouse other than back-channel rumors and vague promises disseminated from our Director of Operations. Therefore many members of #DrafthouseUnited have elected not to work today. 2/3

We are asking folks with plans to attend a movie at #AlamoDrafthouseSouthLamar to exchange their tickets for another date, as the venue will be even more understaffed than usual. We also ask you to be patient and kind to the staff that have opted to work today. 3/3

Union busting is disgusting, *especially* when it comes from our favorite local “progressive” businesses. I stand with Alamo South workers against this illegal bullying from management and I hope you join me in boycotting the South Lamar location until further notice.
