💉 “Give a fluid challenge — see if we can get the norad down.” We’ve all heard it. Boluses are often given just to reduce vasopressor doses. Why? • Fear that pressors are harmful • Pressure to keep patients off ICU But topping up to drop the norad might not be the best move…

Doctors are fleeing the NHS. Every year, 20 000 doctors are leaving the profession prematurely - many because their pay no longer reflects the weight of the job. The real question isn’t whether we can afford to pay doctors. It’s whether we can afford the cost of losing them.

There has been a lot of discussion of doctors’ pay progression in the NHS, arguing this is a valid reason as to why F1 doctors are paid 30% less than newly qualified Physician Assistants (less medically qualified and capable than F1s throughout their career) See image below 1/

A record-breaking 383 million GP appointments delivered this year. By slashing red tape, we're helping GPs get more time to focus on their patients. And with new Neighbourhood Health Services, we'll bring care closer to home.

Ah. “No good deed goes unpunished”. A timely reminder to myself. One of the new shadowing F1s just held the door open for the infection prevention control team, who promptly told them that if they see them on the wards with their hair down they’ll be chucked off. Welcome.

Dear General Public, There are thousands of Advanced Clinical Practitioners (physios, paramedics, dieticians) who are already working at registrar level in Emergency Medicine and will become EM consultants soon. This is a large scale replacement of senior doctors in EM.
