Lakes and springs are critical sources of water security in mountainous regions and hold significant religious importance in Indian culture.

NIH Scientist Dr. Santosh Pingale (Scientist-D) and Staff Sh. Satya Prakash (MTS-T) conducted field investigations from October 29 to November 2, 2025, contributing scientific insights to the sacred landscape of Badrinath Dham in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand.

Their focus was on the hydrology of Lakes, and surrounding water sources to enhance our understanding about these water sources in Badrinath.
