Serious question. What’s the value of a PhD in Engineering? Hardly any of our “home” students want to do one now. I know vibrant job market deters, but anything else? I don’t think I’d have done one if I was 21 and had just graduated now instead of (ahem) yeas ago
thoughts?

Another scale busting map! September rainfall for the UK. Huge variation but parts of southern England seeing over three & a half times their average rainfall. Incredibly Bedfordshire & Oxfordshire saw their wettest month (of any month) in at least 188 years.

Good to see BBC News (UK) Chris Fawkes adopting the term ‘multi-hazard’ to describe #StormBert and its combined impacts across the UK from heavy rain, strong winds, and snow (and snow melt). A complex #extreme event. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/
