Now up, our team's work that attempts to more formally synergize eudiamonia on gaming. Here, Daniel Possler led myself and Rowan Daneels on a very long journey, with a stop at #ica23. Preprint? Sure! t1p.de/eudaimonia

Can modern nature documentaries that portray fascinating nature and its destruction entertain and inspire pro-environmental intentions? So happy Anna Freytag and I were able to share the results of 3 experiments on this at #ICA23 Results? They can and eudaimonia is key in this🌿

New in Games & Culture! Together with Daniel Possler Nick Bowman (包尼克), we found players not only select games for hedonic (absorption), but also for eudaimonic reasons (e.g., wanting to reflect about/reach the best in myself). More to come on this relevant topic! doi.org/10.1177/155541…

Really cool workshop by @admeierlab & Daniel Possler on theory-building in (media) psychology MediaPsych2023 Conference

Now Daniel Possler & Regine Frener kick off the first Journal of Media Psychology panel - a new format for ERCs in which they submitted research reports to the journal, got two blind reviews and the best four papers not only got into this panel but also got a RR at the journal

Thank you Media Psychology for the trust. I am honored and look forward to serving as the division’s Early Career Researcher (ECR) representative for the next 2 years together with Luna Frauhammer 🙌. Anything you feel we can do to support ECRs in MediaPsych? Please let us know!

The Positive Media Psychology Symposium was a blast. Three days of amazing people, insightful talks, and inspiring discussions about how to move the field forward. Thanks Sophie H. Janicke and Katie Dale for organizing this great event and inviting us to sunny California!

Can nature shows that portray the beauty of nature *and* its increasing destruction entertain us and motivate pro-environmental behavior? Our new study in Journal of Communication suggests they can and eudaimonic experiences seem key. Very excited about this pub with the great Anna Freytag

Pub Alert! Introducing new Journal of Communication publication: “How dual-message nature documentaries that portray nature as amazing and threatened affect entertainment experiences and pro-environmental intentions”, by Anna Freytag and Daniel Possler. Read here: doi.org/10.1093/joc/jq…

Excited to share that I've rejoined IJK Hannover as a Postdoc! I am grateful for the amazing 1.5 years Universität Würzburg #UniWürzburg and already miss the team, but I am also thrilled to be back in Hannover, collaborating with old friends, and spending more time with family thanks to less commuting.

Soon? We'll be in Slovenia for #ecrea24 with a pair of manuscripts. The first one? An ongoing partnership with myself, Daniel Possler + Rowan Daneels focused on our efforts to move towards a deeper understanding of the eudaimonic motivations to play video games. Teasers!

How do nature documentaries entertain us hedonically & eudaimonically? What's the role of awe & suspense? Do they inspire conservation or travel, increasing co2 footprint? Findings from our experiments are now published in Mass Communication & Society (Taylor & Francis) (open access): doi.org/10.1080/152054…
