Experienced teachers might appear set in their ways, but usually they’ve been through the cycles of fads & spent years honing their own effective way of working. It may not be based on the latest research, but they often instinctively know what works for their subjects & classes

If you're wondering what your child's teacher is doing this post-Thanksgiving weekend...there's a good chance they are working on lesson plans and/or sprucing up the classroom. Thank you to all #teachers It's a lot of unpaid time and effort for not nearly enough pay.

What if instead of wasting time teaching summer school, teachers spent the month of June in serious professional development—revamping curriculum, learning researched based teaching strategies, collaborating with their colleagues, and prepping for the upcoming school year?

As parents, we must remember that the time we give our kids 364 days of the year is much more important than the gifts we give on 1 day of the year.

A few educators have told me they plan to use A Work in Progress as their last read-aloud of the year. It’s thrilling to know kids will have a safe space to discuss body image, body shaming, eating, and more—and through fiction, which for many will be easier and more comfortable.

You might be a STEM teacher... if you have a student pull hair off your chin with tweezers to give them something else to use under a microscope. BTW, he ripped like 4 at once, no warning. The kids loved the white one the most. Ugh! #STEM
