About 70% of patients with SI dysfunction (bilateral) can get by with unilateral fusion due to vicarious stabilization of the pelvic ring. For one of the recalcitrant 30%, we swung for the fences with 3 points of fixation and a 70mm BAS (big-A screw) in S1.

Aren’t we past this? This is an equivocal trial. What about the three sham controlled randomized control trials showing statistical significance of benefit for vertebroplasty?
