A Ivan D’Orso outing celebrating Nora’s accomplishments, paper in Nature Comm and Farewell. We will miss you @wondersabout Good luck in your postdoc at Duke University in CCoyne’s lab ccoolli !!

Amazing piece of work by the Blazek lab revealing a new role for CDK11 in pre-mRNA splicing regulation. nature.com/articles/s4158… Congrats Dalibor!

Cheers to your achievements Yanina Alarcon and the journey ahead! May your future endeavors be as remarkable and rewarding as your past accomplishments. Best wishes for all that lies ahead from the Ivan D’Orso ! 🎉🌟

Always nice to be back at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory #cshlmoet Mechanisms of Eukaryotic Transcription Meeting and see old friends and colleagues!

Congratulations to Usman Hyder Usman Hyder for successfully completing his PhD studies in the lab!! Usman nurtured his project and ventured into uncharted territories to make important contributions to the transcriptional regulation field. The Ivan D’Orso is hiring PhD students and postdocs interested in expanding their training in transcriptional regulation during cell fate transitions and viral latency. New projects on the interplay between regulatory elements, chromatin and transcription. UTSW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

Join us on Monday at noon in F4.118 for a Gene Regulation and Genomics Seminar with Alessandro Gardini from The Wistar Institute as he presents his research on "Genome Regulation by Nuclear Phosphatases"

A fantastic night and dinner with Alessandro Gardini GardiniLab, before his seminar at Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences, Ben Sabari Laura Banaszynski and Ram Madabhushi

Our recent paper building a new tool to study HIV-1 transcription is highlighted here: utsouthwestern.edu/newsroom/artic… Ivan D’Orso UT Southwestern Medical Center UTSW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

My review about “The HIV-1 transcriptional program” for the Journal of Molecular Biology special issue on transcription elongation is now out: doi.org/10.1016/j.jmb.…. I provide a 4 decades historical recount from mechanistic insights to implications for viral latency and cure. Thanks @NIAID!

Our paper highlighting the counterintuitive importance of negative regulation of transcription elongation to facilitate full gene activation during cell fate decisions is out: nature.com/articles/s4146…. Congrats Usman Hyder and Ashwini Challa and the collab with the Kraus Lab

Our new study by Jinli Wang and Ivan D’Orso at @UTSW is out. We reveal the importance of the ARF tumor suppressor in dismantling transcription elongation complexes to selectively disable oncogenic transcription programs upon p53 loss. Great collab with Seychelle Vos and others, National Cancer Institute.
