The Climate Commitment Act was passed to right some of the health havoc wrought on overburdened communities. No on initiative 2117 will made the Redmond zillionaire bankrolling this initiative very unhappy. 😊

Slippery slope for Seattle: fencing off our beautiful public parks for private purposes. Often for days on end to move equipment. The City plans at least 50 events at Gasworks with little information given to the public on where the millions of dollars go.

This fire truck is going nowhere. The City often blocks our community from making the street safe for kids because “fire trucks might be delayed”. Today the City allows a corporation to hold a private event at Gasworks park that creates car gridlock nearby.

This is Bill Gate’s bus stop. The elevator might even work if he took transit. Often it is broken, like today. So the public has to haul things up the stairs. Unless you have a disability in which case you’re stuck. Why does Medina put up with this “service”?

Every driver will have to hang up the car keys permanently at some point. E-bikes and e-trikes are transforming travel options, especially for older people. There are huge physical and mental health benefits and indeed cost savings to preserving their mobility.

Here’s a good example of why more people are not on bikes or walking. Driver inattention is common. Bellevue man in pickup has difficulty staying in lane today. The City needs to fully protect these lanes.

This sign puts Seattle’s Vision Zero plan into context i.e not working. Preventing deaths and injuries on our roads is basic public health. Good political leadership could make signs like this a relic of the past.

Tons of people here tonight in Bellevue asking the City Council to increase funding for complete streets & to work harder on reducing carbon emissions.

I have mixed feelings about this sign in Kenmore. While it is nice to remember the 19 year old on a bike who died, asking motorists to pay attention is not enough. Redesign the road please.

I was struck by how often Seattle Councilmember Woo said “if you drive by” location XYZ you will understand the problem. Walking a street is more meaningful. Conversations with people? Even better.

Big turnout today in Auburn in the fight against the most anti health initiative I’ve seen. I-2117 would lay billions of health costs from polluted air on all of us, while gutting state money for safe walking, biking & transit. South King County says NO!

What prevented this driver harming others? Seattle’s street redesign with narrower lanes and more people walking and biking. Even with at least 3 dangerous violations, the driver had to slow down. A raised crosswalk would still be nice here.

The health benefits of traffic diverters go well beyond traffic safety. Much harder to do a drive by shooting without a car. School streets should be closed to all vehicles during school hours. No fancy technology here just common sense.

So many people out at the opening of a new greenway in Seattle/Ballard. Many neighbors are thrilled at the change. This 6th Ave NW community greenway will connect neighborhoods so people can walk and roll safely.

Took two governors and one doctor to tell the terrible tale of Initiative 2117 today. But it was health workers at the doors who spread the word: we are not going backwards on air pollution and the health issues it causes. We vote NO.

People shocked about my safety biking in the rain today. I know that the people on the left side of the barrier are much higher risk of crashes than I am. Plus the right side of the barrier is more fun!

Redesigning public spaces to allow people to walk, bike and take transit safely everywhere is the best tool “to treat and prevent obesity”. Ozempic is useful but does not heal communities torn apart by car infrastructure.
