Why would Xero pay LinkedIn to advertise to me so embarrassingly poorly? An automated attempt, but failure, to personalise like this, looks much worse than just receiving a generic message

The Chancellor is right to means test winter fuel payments. Our age-related spending commitments are unaffordable. If political pressure forces her to back down it will beg the question as to whether Parliament will ever make the tough choices needed to manage demographic decline

Replacing a station lift gets hailed by local politicians, including an ex prime minister, as ‘investing in Maidenhead’ Our ambitions are so low 😔

Sat in a garage waiting for my car tyre to be changed. Heard a young guy talking to another about the rizz. FFS you sound like my 12 year old I thought. Then I realised he meant rears. As in rear tyres.

How far should the government go to chase down people and pay them benefits? Vs How much do people have their own responsibility to claim the benefits they are entitled, and are perfectly entitled not to if they don’t want to?

If, under pressure, Labour do backtrack on abolishing the winter fuel allowance, which was done to save c.£1.5b Then they're tying their hands to only having one lever on the economy. If spending cant be cut, then they can only raise taxes.

Starting to see a lot of 'but Britain's state pensions are the worst in Europe...' 🤔 That's true on some measures, but i) the UK's flat rate state pension is more generous (relative to wages) for those people who had lower incomes when in work, and ii) this doesn't take

These headlines aren't just for pensioners receiving state pension now This year, and every year c.500,000 will reach state pension age, and most of them will rely on what the state pension will pay them. They need to know how much this will be to know how much else they need

Wish Miriam Cates was still in parliament* she seems to be one of the few who 'gets it' on the issue of ever increasing pensioner benefits, and the challenges on young families who end up paying for it. *Although maybe she has a stronger voice outside.

Good Wealth taxes sound nice in a poll, but would be a nightmare to legislate and implement, as other countries efforts have shown. ___ Exclusive: Labour to resist calls for a wealth tax in ‘painful’ Budget citywire.com/new-model-advi…

Labour taking credit for the triple lock increase under the last Conservative government that was set last September and paid from this April Both before Labour came to power 🙄 I think they’re right to scrap the winter fuel allowance but lying isn’t the way to justify it
