Then why do poor people flee from socialist to capitalist countries? People opt for socialism because they've been told that it's a moral ideal--or because they want the unearned. The answer is to reject the gross notion you are a servant in favor of the pursuit of happiness.

Communism isn’t counter-cultural. Communism is conformity to an ideology of conformity—one based on moral ideas that have reigned for over 2000 years.

There's also an underlying attitude toward values driving all of this: what Ayn Rand called motivation by fear as against motivation by love. Our culture thinks avoiding death is the same as (or superior to) living life.
