People would later say: “She didn’t win, but she didn’t lose either” because even when the cameras turned off, Maysilee Donner never lowered her head.

I usually don't have a problem lending out books. The times I've lent them, they've always made their way back, so I guess I've been lucky in that aspect. As long as I know the book will be treated well and eventually returned, I'm happy to share.

We need a return to analog culture: handwritten letters, seeing films in the cinema, reading books, in-person visits, time in the outdoors. We weren't meant to spend our whole lives online. The joys of tangible living are something no one can take from you.

saba In Egyptian arabic we say وحشتني/وحشتيني which gets translated to "I missed you" in English but it actually means 'you made everything around me dull and empty by not being here'

Dear God, at least bring me into contact with them, satisfy my longing to kiss them. To feel their light on my lips, to feel it glow inside my body, leaving it shining and transparent, fresh and moist like the minutes that come before dawn

And I fell in love with the way the sun touched your legs in the morning, how they draped over mine. No photograph would be enough to contain the memory I have of falling in love with you over and over again. Courtney Peppernell, I Hope You Stay

I honestly think that crying over a book is one of the most prominent sign of compassion for humanity. You’re crying over someone who isn’t really there, doesn’t really exist, but you still feel for them as if you have known them your entire life.
