FBI assets are headed to the scene in Coeur d’Alene to provide tactical and operational support. It is an active scene.

BREAKING: 2 deaths and unknown injuries in Coeur d'Alene firefighter ambush. Kootenai County sheriff "we're actively taking sniper fire as we speak."

Our Mary Sherden just confirmed with Kootenai Health that 3 people were brought to the hospital. 2 died before they arrived, a third is being treated for injuries. This is our first official confirmation on a number of victims (there could be more.)

With the shooter neutralized and wildfire still blazing, there are so many unanswered questions that I hope we can get to the bottom of. But this is a time of prayer. For those brave hero’s whose lives were cut short and those still fighting for their lives.

Sheriff Norris: One firefighter killed from Coeur d'Alene Fire Department, one from Kootenai Co Fire and Rescue. Third firefighter is just out of surgery and is stable.
