Went on very informative Black History Walks London Bus tour guided by historian, S. I. Martin, old site of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens where Master Juba performed,1873, first UK show of the Fisk Jubilee Singers in Elephant and Castle,1799 boarding school for black boys in Clapham!

Fabulous evening at Rio Cinema Hackney on panel with phenomenal Tina Andrews brilliantly moderated by Magdalene Abraha discussing James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk and film by Barry Jenkins. Also signed copies of my book Breaking The Maafa Chain. Thanks @jacarandabooks

Another special day in London. Went to Tavares Strachan:There is Light Somewhere, exhibition at Hayward Gallery, South Bank. Blown aware by size, depth, intricasies, hidden meanings, truths in his work. So much to see and absorb. Closes 1st September. Hurry do not miss it. ❤️

Last night was amazing – An evening with Dorothea Smartt and Tony Birch in conversation with Dr Deidre Osbourne by the RSL! The fantastic writers plunged into several subjects including Love, community, identity and the marginalized and silenced. Informative event.

What a great evening we had yesterday at the book launch of the amazing Irenosen Okojie’d latest novel ‘Curandera’. It is imaginative and beautifully written and a great read.

Great day at Rose Bruford College Graduation ceremonies. Walked from college through Lamorbey Park to the Church. I was so pleased to be there to see my students get their degrees. Thank you outgoing president Bernardine Evaristo for four inspiring speeches to the graduates.

As Chair of the Board of Trustees it was great to welcome Miatta Fahnbulleh the Peckham MP, Peckham Platform and Arts Council England to THEATRE PECKHAM last night. It was good to discuss how the new government plans to support the theatre’s mission.

Yesterday was a day of great joy. As an alum and trustee of Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama I was able to witness the amazing actor, Ray Fearon be installed as new College President and Mo Gillian as Honorary Fellow of the College. It was a momentous historic day.
