As Chair of the Board of Trustees it was great to welcome Miatta Fahnbulleh the Peckham MP, Peckham Platform and Arts Council England to THEATRE PECKHAM last night. It was good to discuss how the new government plans to support the theatre’s mission.

Yesterday was a day of great joy. As an alum and trustee of Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama I was able to witness the amazing actor, Ray Fearon be installed as new College President and Mo Gillian as Honorary Fellow of the College. It was a momentous historic day.

Yesterday celebrated Jacaranda’s republication of Sam Greenlee’s classic The Spook Who Sat By The Door’. The doyenne of publishing Margaret Busby was in conversation with the amazing Irenosen Okojie. I was honoured to read an excerpt from this seminal novel. A must read.❤️

Last night at the British Academy. joined three amazing poets, the one and only Jackie Kay, Kadija George and Monika Radojevic discussing the more political side of poetry. Also, with his wife Quian, to celebrate and pay tribute to the late, Benjamin Zephania.

What a joy it was to sit in the theatre at BAFTA last night and listen to the great Mike Leigh talk about theatre and his famous directorial method of improvisation to get the best story and performance from his actors. It was such a wonderfully educational evening.

Another giant has fallen. Nikki Giivanni acclaimed poet and activist had died at 81. I was lucky to have met her. She was gracious, sharing and full of laughter. My condolences to her family, friends and all those who have lived and been moved by her words. 😢❤️

Devastated to hear of the sudden passing of dear Christian Holder, dancer, choreographer, actor, director. What a shock to all of us who knew, admired and loved him. Such a gentleman. RIP Christian. 😢❤️
