This is Eddy Julien's first homer since April 25. Came at a very needed time for the injury-ridden Twins, who really need their depth to step up.

I told Matt Wallner on Monday that he should try to hit a catwalk while he was here, and he seems to have taken it to heart. Absolute moonshot that did not hit a catwalk on its way down, but sure looked close. 4-0 Twins.

Pablo López's scoreless innings streak ended at 23 1/3 innings, thanks to a two-out, two-run single by Junior Caminero. Per #MNTwins notes, it's the longest single-season scoreless streak by a Twins pitcher since Tyler Duffey in 2019 (24 1/3 innings).

And Pablo just set his new career-best in velo again with that 98.6 as he struck out the side in the fifth. Pablo has thrown three pitches in his entire career at 98 mph or harder, and all three have been today.

I think that's a first as far as stuff I've seen at the ballpark. Matt Wallner fielded the ball in right field and had so much momentum that he couldn't stop himself and flipped headlong over the low wall in foul territory, taking the ball with him.

Review is taking absolutely forever as they ostensibly determine where to put the runner after the play. Pablo López has been standing around for a long, long time waiting for this thing to resolve itself, getting cold amid a really important inning.

After all that review time, the runner stays at second anyway. Absolutely absurd, considering it's been a full 10 minutes since the last pitch was thrown in this game. Might honestly have ended Pablo's outing, too, since he's being pulled after all that standing around.

Thirteen minutes after the last pitch was thrown, Griffin Jax mercifully ends the inning on just one pitch with the Twins' 4-3 lead intact.

Casting aside how Pablo López's outing ended, another important element today was the 70% whiff rate he got on his sweeper, his second-highest whiff rate on that pitch this season.

Given Royce's injury history and how depleted this roster is, there's no chance the Twins want him coming anywhere close to full speed on any routine play.

#MNTwins 4, Rays 3. The record: 76-64 2nd, -4.0 ALC, +6.0 ALWC Pablo López is finding a new gear with his stuff this month, and Eddy Julien packed the punch. Twins salvage the split of the four-gamer in Tampa Bay.

Carlos Santana was shaken up after the last play of the game, after he had to make a jumping, spinning tag to complete the out.

Carlos Santana is all right. He said he got clipped on the left wrist by the runner but didn't need an X-ray. Has happened to him before.

Natural first question to Matt “Cement Bones” Wallner after this play: Is the wall doing all right after colliding with him? “No. No.” < pause > “It felt good.”
