Making a summer reading list this week. Don't worry, I promise all of these books actually exist.

It's important to remember that the Stoics didn't think think having emotions was the problem. Being ruled by them was. Having a firm grasp over reason is a key to both personal happiness and service to the community. Emotive chaos gets in the way of that.

Mysticism isn't the abandonment of reason. It means leaving a door open to the possibility of ecstatic experience that exceeds the limits of reason alone. It refutes the vain proposition that your whole life can be quantified.
