And there it is in black & white. **NHSEโ€™s plan ALL ALONG was doctor substitution** A few direct quotes from their own document: ๐Ÿšฉ โ€œInnovation in terms of substitution models is also to be welcomedโ€ ๐Ÿšฉ โ€œChallenges & Solutions with regard to replacing Foundation Doctors ๐Ÿšฉ

GMC public consultation * 78% of doctors and 60% patients DISAGREE * 98% of PAs agree So GMC will do what the PAs want Is that how public consultations/ โ€œresearchโ€ is supposed to work? #PatientSafety #AskForADoctor #SaveNHS

Didnโ€™t feel like driving to work today was a good idea with this horrendous storm. Weather like this remind me of my school friend, Beth, who lost her life in a freak accident when her home was crushed by a falling tree. It would have been 9 years this October since she passed.

So this is the new great idea๐Ÿค” Iโ€™m pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldnโ€™t have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs england.nhs.uk/long-read/refoโ€ฆ

Eilidh ๐Ÿฆ€ Wes Streeting Absolutely ridiculous example. Unnecessary investigations which come with risk. A GPs skill is in managing risk with minimal investigations (+ escalating to 2 care as needed). They are excellent at it. There is no skill in algorithm 'blocked nose, face pain = CT + ENT review.'

Show us the evidence that any PA who has illegally prescribed or requested ionising radiation has been disciplined, had a FTP hearing or been dealt with by the criminal justice system. There's multiple NMC/HCPC/GMC registrants who have. The issue is ZERO accountability for PAs!

A big problem in medicine is unconscious competence meeting unconscious incompetence. For a highly trained consultant complex tasks might be so second nature they seem like 'common sense'. And someone without much training or experience might believe them.

The absolutely MASSIVE elephant in the room that HMG have conveniently ducked, is that cutting welfare will mean an increase in unpaid family caring. And that this will hugely, and unequally, affect women, who will be driven out of work and into both caring and poverty.

We have published a report compiling the shocking testimonies of doctors who have witnessed unsafe practice by PAs and AAs. Patients are being let down by the repeated failures of NHS leaders to keep them safe. Read the full report here: bma.org.uk/media/p13leadhโ€ฆ

Men only started saying higher education is a scam when women started outperforming them there. Itโ€™s male flight. As soon as a profession, area of expertise or study becomes dominated by women, they start to demonize it. Donโ€™t listen to them. Get an education.

In this vein, it's a weird coincidence doctor's salaries have fallen off a cliff (and governments increasingly seem to consider us irrelevant to the provision of healthcare) as more women have entered the profession.

Considering 2.8% is below inflation, this is literally saying to NHS staff that the cost of maintaining the NHS doesn't fall on the general population, it falls on you. Your pay will be cut yet again so the public can have a health service. Nope, not acceptable.

Since 2008, NHS doctors have effectively subsidised the health service by ยฃ25billion, simply because our pay hasnโ€™t kept up with RPI inflation. That shortfall helped keep the NHS afloat, but it came directly from doctorsโ€™ pockets. We stayed. We worked through a pandemic, rising
