“Upgraded” to iOS 18 and wow, this must be by far the worst release in iOS history. Lots of interaction race conditions, stuff that just isn’t working, crashing apps (including the built-in camera) and everything is incredibly laggy (and of course noticeably worse battery perf.)

I always believed coalescing operator `a ?? b` only worked for undefined values. But it falls through on null as well: `null ?? 'default'`. Is that Mandela effect or I have dementia?

I can back that: battery feels 3x worse since iOS18. It’s either disgusting planned obsolescence policy or programmers fault, I know how code is written at Apple. And regression testing won’t let it get better. Considering nothing phone, purism or pine now.

There’s random reels like “will my truck fit into this dock”, people seem to film everything now. Should I start filming “will this API fit into 100 bytes? let’s spend a week and find out”

Saving few hours of programming to produce code you don’t understand and isn’t able to maintain doesn’t seem like good investment.

I use the Documents folder for actual documents, but software has impudence to write programmatic files in there, like ATEM autosave, Topaz AI projects etc. Do users, developers or OS designers have lack of understanding the purpose of folders?

I don’t understand a single point of dev mode since the beginning. Everything “dev” I need is there in normal mode, but not in dev. And now this. It’s astonishing how bad people can turn genius’ work into abomination
