Encouraging sign: SS Josh Kasevich, who missed much of the season due to back surgery and an infield collision, hit three balls of 100+ exit velo in Arizona Fall League play yesterday. None resulted in hits, but the bat speed is getting there.

After reading some of the tweets on here today (not about me), I just don’t want this permitted toxicity in my life. For the whole of this glorious 🇨🇦Thanksgiving weekend, I’ll be hanging out at the blue place.

A guy with an Ernie Clement-like profile to keep an eye on is Cutter Coffey, who is off to a good start in AZ after being Vancouver’s best bat in the 2nd half. 2022 2nd rounder who came in the Danny Jansen deal maybe hasn’t reached his max potential, but has showed promise.

The 5 pm start time and late afternoon/early evening October sky may have caused problems for Daulton Varsho today. He seemed to have trouble picking up the ball mid-flight.

BA tags RHP Yondrei Rojas as a potential R5 guy to watch. Jays were thrilled with his performance - MiLB pitching director Justin Lehr said he really stood out this year. Hasn’t pitched much beyond A ball, is currently getting innings in Arizona.

As I wrote in my latest newsletter, there are no impact bats on the immediate horizon for the Jays system. You can only have so many platoon or contact-over-power bats in your lineup. Some big offseason decisions may loom.

Say what you will about John Schneider, but he has tremendous respect among his players. And he’s coaxed career years out of journeymen like Clement and Lukes by putting them in situations where they could be successful. He has faith in his players.
