Why don't more restaurants promote their access features? If they are going to the effort to offer things like a dedicated gluten-free fryer, an elevator or outdoor heating, why not put it on their website? Having to ask every business (and for them, replying) is time consuming.

Basically: don't be neurodivergent.

I'm so tired of 'politeness' being weaponised as some sort of proxy for 'good' education.

Archiving neurodiversity movement is responsibility & privilege. Martijn Dekker 🇪🇺 recently published origins of neurodiversity (he told me long ago he may have but didn’t manage to look), which led to an academic letter to the editor a group of us wrote, & now this article quoting us.

Good, every employer needs to do this.

There is no reason the questions should be a “surprise”

Interviews should be about the interviewee and their ability to do the role… not how quickly they can make up a scenario or remember exactly what happened 3 years ago.

I'd love to speak to college organizers who have set up D/deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent contingents at campus encampments for a piece. My email is in my bio and my DM’s are open. I’m curious about how disabled students are showing up for these protests.

i don't speak about this much but my older brother, who was autistic and had schizophrenia, died one christmas morning due to tory cuts to services. to many of us, the way writers and politicians legitimise such cuts is not a twitter debate but a matter of life and death.

I have complex chronic illness, a Shingrix prescription and can’t afford to fill it right now. The band of immunocompromised conditions eligible to receive the vaccine on the PBS only includes four or five very specific conditions atm

new article! i've written an in depth piece about how british critical psychiatry (of the bourgeois variant) has been increasingly co-opted by radical conservatives - and how this has enabled the new tory assault on disabled people.

Comedy writers Sara Gibbs and Elsa Williams have launched The Daily Tism, a satirical news site to 'give space to autistic voices, poke fun at mainstream perceptions of autism and show that autistic people do, in fact, have a sense of humour'.

We kind of buried the lede, but I wish more people were reading this because the quotes we got from Judy Singer are astonishing. 19thnews.org/2024/04/neurod…

We won’t ever be shy about calling out fake news about autism. We’ll fight stereotypes and stigma wherever we see them, to create a society that works for autistic people. (5/5)

We wanted to be able to communicate clearer information with you before the programme airs, so we wrote to @Netflix last week to ask them if we could see the show early. We didn’t hear back. So we wanted to be upfront with our supporters about our concerns. (4/5)

In recent weeks we’ve seen several phony and harmful science claims about autism, and we’re worried this could be the latest. The trailer itself is concerning. We’ll be watching closely to check @Netflix isn’t spreading misinformation about autism to millions of people. (3/5)

The advert clearly says: “Diseases like… autism… are all related to the gut.” Autism is a lifelong disability. Words like “disease” suggest something is wrong with someone and it can be cured. That’s just not appropriate when talking about autistic people. (2/5)

Some people have messaged us about a programme launching on @Netflix tomorrow called Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut. They’re worried about its claims. We’ve watched the trailer and, to be honest, we’re really worried too. Here’s why: 🧵(1/5)

The way I frame it is theres a big difference between awareness and activism. Too often influencers will share a lot of their experience or make people aware of issues but there wont be the call to action or for change
